The “Symphonic Concert No.2”, is Huang’s
second serial symphonic work in a large form.
----- The first part, Op.47a, is
"The Symphonic Overture No. 2", the second part, Op.47b, is the
" Violin Concerto in B" in three movements.They are all published by Amazon.
And the third part, Op.47c, is this
"Symphony in A flat major 'Phoenix'" in 5 movements [62 minutes]
The first two parts of the “Symphonic
Concert No.2" were premiered in Beijing by the China Youth Symphony
Orchestra in 1997.However, the
composing of the third part has been delayed. The reason is the author's
Chinese heart: for thousands of years, the word "deep disaster" has
been following this nation, but, however, the Chinese finally rise in the east
of the world from the deadly dark.How
can the composer present this symphony in the most appropriate form, and bring
blessings to the world?Until the idea
of "Phoenix sigh" inspired the author's rolling music.
As a result, the structure of the entire
symphony is: a total of five movements, the order is:
—ESSENCE 精 Andante con molto
—SPIRIT 气 Allegro assai
—DIVINITY 神 Larghetto
—PEACE 和 Vivo
—REVIVAL 腾飞 Allegro assai con brio
The fifth movement of this symphony,
"Revival", is the end of the entire “Symphonic Concert No. 2".
Its “Phoenix’s Flame of Fire” symbolizes the composer's powerful belief in the
whole composition: "Defeat death to obtain the eternal life".
This point has a distinct manifestation
in this final movement: from the beginning of the "world turmoil" to
the evolution of the huge contrast of the brilliant chorus of the
“Phoenix"; from the " disaster" making the Phoenix smashesinto the fire of hell from the high heaven;
its shocking description of self-immolation to the sound of the
"resurrection" and the vitality of the folk instruments which
simulate the voice of life from afar; and from the brilliant fire of the
phoenix soars to the sky with roar of the organ at the end.
The themes of all of the previous music
are also interrelated.All of the
players join the forces to create the powerful music that " The Chinese
symphony has never been sounded like this before, and it is all about achieving
a brilliant future”, the critic said in “People’s Music”, the major music
magazine in China, 2009.
2005 is the 10th anniversary of the Little Golden Sail Youth Symphony Orchestra of Zhongguancun No. 2 Primary School in Haidian District, Beijing. At the commission of Principal Yang Gang, the composer wrote this symphony to celebrate, and dedicated it to his father, Prof.Fei-lih Huang, who has devoted the lives to music education. This symphony is also dedicated to all teachers.
This symphony is traditionally composed in four movements:
In the first movement, a solemn and comfortable Adagio introduced its fiery Allegro assai, showing the boundless vitality of youth;
The title of Moderato in the second movement is "Song to all Teachers", and the love and gratitude to the teacher are all in it. The main melody of the movement is selected from the "Children's Sight Singing and Ear Training Course" compiled by the composer's mother, grandma Zhao Fangxing who devoted her whole live to the musical education, too. Her melody in the middle part is the kind children's song "Good Auntie, Good Auntie, Auntie is Like Mother!";
The third movement is a Scherzo, in which the melody is selected from the "Children's Sight Singing and Ear Training Course" compiled by Grandma Zhao Fangxing, too, wishing all children a dream come true;
The fourth movement Allegro andante, alla march is the composer’s "FANFARE No. 3" for the youth orchestra and choir. However, the lyric is written by Mr. Tao Xiping. As one of the founders of the Golden Sail Youth Symphony Orchestra, Tao Xiping's vigorous verses in his poems also sang everyone's aspirations: "Don't be afraid of strong winds or huge waves. Let the horn of victory spread throughout the world!"

PREMIERE RECORDING An-lun Huang's piano trios dazzlingly demonstrate that contemporary music in no way has to be accessible only to a sworn community of experts. With his skill this Chinese-Canadian composer combines the best traditions from several world regions to produce a euphonious and harmonious whole - and does so with great class. The premiere ensemble for the Trio No. 2 from 2015 lends this first recording a special measure of authenticity. As a composer and as a teacher An-lin Huang is sought after throughout the world. His Chinese Rhapsody No. 2 marked the beginning of a breathtaking career: it was with this work that Huang's fellow Chinese musician Lang Lang played his way to the first prize in the youth section of the legendary Tchaikovsky Competition. Music is a tradition in the master's family: Huang's father was one of Paul Hindemith's last students at Yale.
As the third part of the “Symphonic Concert No.1”, Symphony in C
major is the conclusion for this large form.Inspired by the Qing Ming festival in Beijing in 1976 and strongly
influenced by maestro Li De-lun, Symphony in C major was composed in Pittsburgh
in 1984.Maestro Li conducted the world
premiere of the work, which was just dedicated to him.
After the premiere of the whole “Symphonic
Concert No.1”, took place in Beijing, 1984, this symphony has been completely
revised and recorded by the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra of Moscow, conducted
by maestro Klemetz in 2001.As Maestro
Li always said, “Chines music could be symphonic”, this ideal has been
practiced again in this work.
Symphony in C major consists of four movements:
1. Allegro con brio,2. Andante con moto, a Marcia funebre,3. Allegro vivace, a Scherzo ,4. Finale, Andante con moto ,
